Polyethylene Pipe & Fittings
Mill-Pro has a well-established track record in supplying major engineering projects in Australasia for more than 20 years. With our sourcing skills and systems developed over the last 5 years Mill-Pro has assembled a team of water works professionals across the Asia Pacific region with significant combined experience in Steel, Ductile Iron and Polyethylene pipe & fittings to deliver a complete technical & product pipeline solution to it’s clients.
A major factor in Polyethylene is the low barrier to market entry due to the relatively low capital and operating costs to manufacture Polyethylene products.. This has resulted in many new manufacturers entering the market and established manufacturers switching to sourcing materials from low cost countries. Often such sourcing lacks proper risk assessment of the suppliers, resins and designs resulting in compromised product performance.
This is further compounded by Polyethylene’s unique failure mode, unlike “rigid pipes” (PVC’s, steel, ductile etc.), polyethylene fails elastically over time rather than immediately, so defects in product design, manufacture & installation may not become apparent for weeks, months or years. Depending on operating conditions, systems can often pass on site pressure testing, only to fail subsequently.
What’s the solution for designers and end users?
• Development of robust specifications with clear test criteria.
• Testing products using statistical techniques against the specification to ensure compliance.
The Mill-Pro team has spent more than 15 years advising local authorities, consultants and Government bodies throughout the Asia Pacific region on Polyethylene specifications, helping to create robust specifications & recommending appropriate testing criteria. This team has been supplying major projects all across Asia and has built relationships with global leaders such as FRIATEC of Germany, giving Mill-Pro the ability to deliver a complete solutions approach to pipeline systems.
